Following the Isolation tour the guitarist Steve Lukather and drummer Jeff Porcaro decided to add a second keyboardist and vocalist to the group. They auditioned various musicians including Fergie Fredericksen, and then chose Joseph Williams.
In 2018, Toto released a new album titled Old Is New and embarked on a world tour to promote the album. Lenny Castro and Shannon Forrest joined them on tour along with Warren Ham and Shem Von Schroeck.
